Privacy policy

At MeasureJob, we believe tools should be useful without being intrusive. We collect as little data as possible while helping you plan your projects. This policy explains what we collect, why, the legal basis for it, and the rights you have over it.

Because we are based in the European Union, we follow the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and we extend the same protections to all visitors regardless of where they live.

What data we collect

You do not need to give us any personal information, such as your name, address, or phone number, to use our calculators. The data involved in a normal visit is limited to the following.

  • Server log data: Our hosting provider records standard technical information, described below.
  • Analytics data: Used to understand how the site is used so we can improve it. Only collected after you consent.
  • Advertising data: Used to support the free running of the site. Only collected after you consent.
  • Local preferences: Your chosen unit system and theme, stored on your own device.
  • Contact form data: Only if you choose to send us a message.

Under the GDPR, we rely on the following legal bases:

  • Consent for analytics and advertising cookies. These are not active until you agree through the cookie banner, and you can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legitimate interest for standard server logs, which we use to keep the site secure and working, and for handling messages you send us through the contact form.

Server logs and hosting

Our site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like most hosting providers, Cloudflare automatically records standard server log data when you visit, which can include your IP address, browser type, device type, referring page, and the date and time of your request. This information is used to operate the site securely, prevent abuse, and diagnose technical problems. It is standard technical logging and is not used to identify you personally.

Analytics (Google Analytics 4)

With your consent, we use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used and which calculators are most popular, which helps us decide what to build next. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect information such as your browser type, device type, approximate location, and the pages you visit. This data is aggregated and is not used by us to identify you personally.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

MeasureJob is supported by advertising. With your consent, we use Google AdSense to display ads. Google may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites, which allows Google and its partners to show ads relevant to your interests.

You can manage or opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ad Settings.

Local storage on your device

We use your browser’s local storage to remember your preferences. This data stays on your device and is not sent to our servers. We store two things:

  • Unit preference: Whether you prefer metric (mm) or imperial (inches).
  • Theme preference: Whether you prefer the light or dark theme.

We use a tool called Klaro to manage cookie consent. When you first visit MeasureJob, you are asked whether you consent to analytics and advertising cookies. Analytics and advertising cookies are not set until you agree. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the “Cookie settings” link in the footer of any page.

The contact form

If you send us a message through our contact page, the form is processed by a third-party service called Formspree, which delivers your message to us. The information you submit, such as your name, email address, and the content of your message, is used only to read and respond to your enquiry. We do not use it for marketing, and we do not share it beyond what is needed to deliver and answer your message. You can read more in the Formspree Privacy Policy.

International data transfers

Some of the services we rely on, including Cloudflare, Google, and Formspree, are operated by companies based in the United States, so using them can involve transferring data outside the EU and EEA. Where that happens, those providers rely on recognized safeguards such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses to protect your data. We enter into the data processing terms these providers offer for the services we use.

How long we keep data

We keep contact form messages only as long as needed to handle your enquiry and any reasonable follow-up. Analytics data is retained according to Google’s standard retention settings. Preferences stored in your browser’s local storage remain until you clear them through your browser.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, including the EU, UK, and California, you may have rights over your personal data. These can include:

  • The right to withdraw consent for cookies at any time, through the “Cookie settings” link.
  • The right to know what data is collected, as described in this policy.
  • The right to access, correct, or request deletion of personal data we hold about you.
  • The right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. In Sweden, this is the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY).

Third parties

We do not sell your personal data. The third-party services that may receive data about your visit are Google (for analytics and advertising, and only after you consent) and Formspree (only if you use the contact form). Each operates under its own privacy policy.

Children

MeasureJob is a general-audience tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “last updated” date. Significant changes will be reflected here, so it is worth reviewing the page occasionally.

Who we are

MeasureJob is operated by Magnus Jonsson, a sole trader based in Sweden (“MeasureJob”, “we”, “us”, “our”). We are the data controller responsible for the personal data described in this policy.
